Learn how to get the most out of Watch List and create amazing recommendation lists
Getting Started
Creating Your Account
To get started with Watch List, you'll need to create a free account. Click the 'Sign Up' button in the navigation bar, and you'll be guided through a simple registration process. Once registered, you can immediately start creating your first list.
Your Dashboard
After signing in, you'll land on your Dashboard. This is your central hub where you can see all your lists, create new ones, and access key features. The dashboard shows a summary of your account status, subscription information, and quick access to your lists.
Creating Lists
Choose a Category
Watch List supports seven entertainment categories: Movies 🎬, TV Shows 📺, Games 🎮, Books 📚, Music 🎵, Comics 📖, and Anime 🎌. Click on 'Create New List' on your dashboard and select the category that matches what you want to track.
Answer Questions
Our AI-powered system will ask you a series of personalized questions about your preferences. These questions help us understand your taste and generate better recommendations. Take your time to provide thoughtful answers - the more detail you share, the better your recommendations will be. You can skip questions if needed, but detailed answers lead to better results.
Generate Recommendations
Once you've completed the questions, our AI will analyze your responses and generate personalized recommendations. This process usually takes just a few moments. You'll be automatically redirected to your new list once the recommendations are ready.
Managing Your Lists
Viewing Your Lists
All your lists are displayed on the Dashboard. Each list card shows the category, name, creation date, and whether it's public or private. Click on any list to view its recommendations in detail.
Renaming Lists
You can rename your lists at any time. On the list page, click the edit icon next to the list name, enter your new name, and save. This helps you organize your lists better.
Making Lists Public or Private
By default, all lists are private. You can make a list public by toggling the 'Public' setting on the list page. Public lists appear in the Discover section where other users can find and view them. Private lists are only visible to you.
Sharing Lists
Every list has a unique shareable link. When you make a list public, you can copy the share link and send it to friends or post it anywhere. Anyone with the link can view your recommendations, even without an account.
Exporting Lists
You can export any of your lists as a JSON file. This includes all recommendations, descriptions, artwork URLs, and metadata. Use the export button on the list page to download your data.
Deleting Lists
If you no longer need a list, you can delete it from the list management page. This action is permanent and cannot be undone, so make sure you really want to remove it.
Working with Recommendations
Viewing Recommendations
Each recommendation card displays the title, description, artwork, and where to watch (if available). Recommendations are ordered by relevance to your preferences. Scroll through your list to see all suggestions.
Removing Recommendations (Premium)
Premium subscribers can remove recommendations they don't like. When you remove a recommendation, our AI automatically generates a replacement that better matches your preferences. This helps refine your list over time.
Finding Similar Items
Premium users can use the 'Find Similar' feature to discover content similar to any recommendation. This is great for when you really like something and want to find more like it. You can also use the 'Find Similar Items' search on your dashboard to search by title and category.
Understanding Recommendations
Our AI analyzes your answers to generate recommendations that match your stated preferences. The system considers genres, themes, styles, and other factors you mentioned in your responses. Recommendations improve as you provide more detailed answers.
Discovering Content
Browse Public Lists
The Discover page shows lists that other users have made public. You can browse by category, search for specific topics, and sort by newest or most popular. This is a great way to find new content recommendations from the community.
Viewing Shared Lists
When someone shares a list link with you, you can view all their recommendations even without an account. This makes it easy to share your favorite finds with friends and family.
Account Management
Account Settings
Access your account settings from the user menu in the navigation bar. Here you can view your profile information, subscription status, and account preferences.
Subscription Plans
Watch List offers both free and premium plans. Free accounts can create multiple lists and get AI recommendations. Premium subscribers get additional features like replacing recommendations, finding similar items, and unlimited lists. Check the Pricing page for details.
List Limits
Free accounts have a limit on the number of lists they can create. If you reach this limit, you'll see a message when trying to create a new list. You can either delete an existing list or upgrade to premium for unlimited lists.
Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account at any time from the Account Settings page. This will permanently remove all your lists, recommendations, and account data. This action cannot be undone.
Tips & Best Practices
Be Specific in Your Answers
When answering questions, be as specific as possible. Instead of saying 'I like action movies,' try 'I enjoy fast-paced action movies with strong character development, like John Wick or Mad Max: Fury Road.' This gives our AI much more to work with.
Create Multiple Lists
Don't limit yourself to one list per category. Create different lists for different moods or themes. For example, you might have 'Weekend Binge-Watching,' 'Thought-Provoking Films,' and 'Light Comedies' as separate movie lists.
Keep Lists Updated
As you watch, read, or play items from your lists, consider removing them and letting the system generate replacements. This keeps your recommendations fresh and aligned with your current interests.
Share Your Lists
Making your lists public helps the community discover great content. It's also a fun way to share your taste with friends and see what others are recommending.
Use Find Similar
If you discover something you love, use the 'Find Similar' feature to explore more content in that vein. This is especially useful for niche interests or when you want to dive deeper into a particular style or genre.
Troubleshooting
Recommendations Not Generating
If recommendations aren't appearing, make sure you've completed the question flow. The system needs your answers to generate suggestions. If you've completed everything and still see no recommendations, try refreshing the page or contact support.
Can't Create a New List
If you're unable to create a new list, check if you've reached your list limit (for free accounts). You'll see a message explaining why you can't create more lists. Consider deleting an unused list or upgrading to premium.
Premium Features Not Working
Premium features require an active subscription. Check your account settings to verify your subscription status. If your subscription has expired, you'll need to renew it to access premium features.
Need More Help
If you're experiencing issues not covered here, you can contact our support team through the Contact page or create a support ticket from your account (if you have an active subscription).
